Overview

GearDex is a gear inventory, shoot planner, and studio operations workspace built by a working photographer and filmmaker. Instead of wrestling with fragile spreadsheets the night before a job, you keep every body, lens, drone, gimbal, light, audio recorder, and Pelican case organized in one place with serial numbers, purchase receipts, firmware versions, warranty dates, and current resale values. My own kit spans a Fujifilm GFX 100 II, X-T5, Lumix S1R II, and S9 alongside a multi-aircraft drone fleet, so GearDex handles mixed-system kits natively. Drone operators can store FAA Part 107 registration numbers, Remote ID module serials, battery cycle logs, and airworthiness notes alongside camera bodies. When an underwriter or production company asks for an equipment schedule, GearDex exports a clean inland marine insurance PDF or customs carnet sheet in seconds. Before a shoot, you build a shoot plan that pulls gear straight from your locker into a pack list with weight totals, battery counts, weather forecasts, sunrise and golden hour times, and a printable call sheet for the crew. When lending a lens or body to a second shooter, printable QR asset tags and digital check-out receipts track who has each case and when it is due back. GearDex runs on the web at https://www.geardex.app with native desktop apps for macOS 1.3.2 and Windows 1.3.2, and the iOS companion app is coming soon (currently in Apple App Store review).

Who is it for?
Working photographers, independent filmmakers, wedding and commercial studios, FAA Part 107 drone operators, and small rental houses managing multi-camera kits.
Problem
Most shooters track tens of thousands of dollars in bodies, lenses, drones, and lighting across scattered spreadsheets and notes apps. Serial numbers go missing when an insurer asks for an inland marine schedule, batteries get left on chargers before a 5 AM call time, and loaned lenses disappear between second shooters.
Solution
GearDex puts your full gear locker, QR check-out receipts, FAA Part 107 and Remote ID drone records, inland marine insurance PDF exports, and weather-aware shoot plans with call sheets into one fast workspace across Web, native macOS 1.3.2, and native Windows 1.3.2, with an iOS app coming soon.
What makes it unique
Built by a working shooter running a Fujifilm GFX 100 II, X-T5, Lumix S1R II, and S9 kit rather than a generic IT asset team. Every field fits real production gear: lens mounts, filter threads, FAA Remote ID serials, battery cycles, and one-click insurance schedules.
